Alienation Issues
Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone else had problems with alienating everyone in their life after they stopped drinking. I seem to be having a real issue with this problem.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks, J

I'm not sure. I think a lot of my old "friends" were alienated for sure. A lot of my relationships were constructed around drinking, so when the drinking disappeared so did the friends.
Actually, I alienated people more when I was drinking. Now that I'm sober, I find myself reaching out more and wanting to be more sociable. Are the people you are alienating drinkers, or is it just people in general?
I have a smaller, but higher quality circle of friends now.
It kind of evens out eventually.
At the beginning, I definately was way more into just AA people.
Now, have reconnected with old friends. Real ones.
Family too, can be difficult to deal with as one's emotions are all over the place.
It will work out.
Simplify, simplify, simplify.
