I am still a work in progress
It's been 5 years since i posted here and I am still a work in progress, I have my sober moments but lately I have fallen into my bad habits. I drink at least 3 days out of week and suffer 2 days of hangover. I don't know what to do because my husband is a drinker too. Don't know what to do. I have tried AA and its not working. what else can i do.
welcome back want2stopnow
Support was very important to me in maintaining my commitment to sobriety - otherwise I remember it too often seemed like it was me against the world.
What kind of support network do you have?

Want2stop, I also am married to an alcoholic. Tried several times to get sober while he was still drinking, and didn't make it, but this time I am. My failed attempts weren't a waste though, because they caused him to examine his own drinking habits and through no small miracle, we both ended up going to detox together about a month ago. Today we're on Day 26 ... I know that I will keep going and I hope he will too. It's just day to day right now.
It's hard to live with someone else who is still drinking, I know. It would help to get some face to face support outside of your home if you can and are willing. Working a program like AA, AVRT, SMART, etc. will also help and will give you the tools to deal with whatever emotions come up when you are around your husband and his drinking. And of course, coming here will be a huge source of support.
If you ever want to talk about this stuff, I can relate and you are more that welcome to PM me.

Welcome back, wanttostopnow!
It's got to be hard being in your situation, but unless you go to treatment (or your husband agrees to drinking outside the house) you may have to get sober in spite of his drinking.
Maybe the Family & Friends forum would give you some support concerning your husband (?)..... Otherwise, like everyone says, just focus on you. It doesn't get any easier the longer we stay out there drinking. We're here for you!:ghug3
