Glad I Found This Site!
This is only my third post here. The first one was a leap of faith.
I had never thought I would wind up needing to be here as much as I do.
On my first post I hesitated for a long time on hitting the POST button.
When I finally did, I felt this weight lifted. I was able to vent. And vent to people who know what I'm going through and have been where I am.
Since then I have been able to better deal with my AH and his angry outbursts.
After being gone for 11 days house sitting for friends, the first night home he proceeded to get schnoggered and verbally attack: my job, my faithfulness, my integrity, my friends, my family, what I do and don't do around the house and yard, ect...yada yada yada.
When normally I would have risen to the belittling with equal yelling and fighting I instead took a deep breath, lowered my voice and said, "I'm sorry you feel that way". Then I opened a book and read while he stared at me in stunned silence.
Less than an hour later he was passed out in bed for the rest of the night and I was elated that for a change nothing in the house was destroyed & the dogs and I were not locked in our room.
The Stickies are invaluable, the members are awesome and the advise and education I get here see me through on a daily basis. My daily mantra is the three C's.

Great job at not engaging!!! It doesn't always happen, but most frequently if someone wants to pick a fight with me, and I don't engage? They get tired of fighting with themselves
