Making myself write again

So I have continued to lurk about. Some nights I go to bed lurking about here.

I really appreciate all the responses to my original post last week. I was a bit surprised how helpful writing on here was. When I would start feeling down I would come back and re-read the responses.

So I'm just writing again. I don't have anything particular to say. (Well I could say a lot, but I'm not there yet.) I do think I need to push myself a bit. Privacy, secrecy, and isolation have really alllowed me to drink without major consequences or confrontation for years. KWIM?

In some ways there is a greater self-accountability saying "it" out loud ... or would it be typing it out loud.

So here it is. I have a problem I need to fix.

Happy Sunday y'all.

Welcome Begin! I know I'm repeating Sapling here, but what are you going to do about your problem?

I figure that no one here knows who you are or where you are so you might as well spill it! It made me feel better about my situation. I can relate to many here and vice versa.

Keep posting!

i really urge my sponsees to begin a daily routine of writing- seen lots of benefits in my own recovery: private place to rant and vent, a method to stop those mental tape loops when they're running amok, a place to return to later on and find out that, yes, i survived that and stayed sober, a resource to discover how small my early hopes and dreams were- and even a vein i could mine when it came time to write my novel...

Going to bed sober. Again.

I think I may try to write a little in the A.M. I do happen to have a new notebook. Even writing about myself privately makes me a little queasy, but I used to write a long long time ago.

And I will keep posting.....

I'm finding this site a little addictive in and of itself .......

Yes, the site is addictive, but I've spent my life studying and teaching writing, and I can tell you that it will be very important for you to write your story down--and sharing it is a proven benefit in AA day after day.

Formulate it. If you formulate it, you can make it real.

Welcome Dbuck!

Pretty much the way you see it here - it's best to start a thread - (use the big blue New Thread' Button at the top left hand side of the main forum page) and then people reply to you

You can also use chat - the chat room can be accessed on the right hand side of the big blue toolbar that runs across the top of every page

good to have you with us

D

Missy7--Write us and tell us what you want to achieve in your life. Include the small personal only-matters-to-you goals and the big ones too.

I wrote a word cloud more than a year ago with ALCOHOL in big letters in the center and all the things stemming out from it like spokes of a wheel--blackouts, hangovers, self-loathing, etc.

Then I wrote a word cloud with SOBER in the middle and all the possibilities stemming out from it.

I've written here about my childhood and past.

Here are my goals, starting from a year ago:

1. Stop drinking, blackouts, hangovers, self-loathing, bloating
2. Feel content most of the day, most days
3. Have clear skin and nice fingernails (I self-harm).
4. Run a half marathon
5. Get a job I like with people I like doing good work
6. Make more money
7. Settle a new healthy lower weight
8. Fix my chronic hip pain
9. Fix my family relationships
10. Be a great wife.

I've accomplished 1-4 in one year, working on the others. Hope this is helpful!

While I'm being all back-to-back posty, I want to add that I hear you saying you have a problem you need to fix. That is awesome that you are being real and sharing that.

What's the problem? Why do you need to fix it? What's it holding you back from becoming/achieving?
