I feel so good being clean, shedding this dead skin and slipping into a new one has been good. If only i could get those wasted years back i spent drinking and being such an a@@hole to people but i know i cant, thats ok because the friends i drank with dont come around or CALL no more so im getting new friends which i was prepared for because i knew it would happen but thats ok.

Welcome to SR!!!! I know what you mean about wanting the wasted years back. I have found starting a thread on this forum about thoughts like that that bother me has helped me immensely - it is amazing the amount of support, understanding, experience and warmth you receive from the posters here. I love this place.

Welcome Earl! Great job on your 60 hard-earned days. You sound very positive and determined to make this work.

I hope you won't spend too much time on regret and guilt. It almost kept me from moving forward - I had a huge amount of clean-up to do. Then I realized the negative thoughts were preventing me from having the new life I was striving for.

It's wonderful to have you join us - looking forward to hearing more from you.

The wasted years i stated in my post was when I drank and turned into a reall a@@hole and couldn't remember what happened that night after I woke up, I just felt like I wasted a ton of my life drinking when now I realize what I've missed

Some of your friends may come circling back after awhile; they will be curious why you look so darn good and seem so happy!

Seriously, you may inspire them to make some changes.

Well done on the 60 days of new life! Don't look back with regret. I believe everything we go through can be educational and soul-forming. Mend the fences and move on into happiness and health.
