1 year Today!
It has been an interesting year. It is hard to believe that I waited so long to simply put down the bottle and get on with life.
It has been a long journey for me. I've tried lots of things. I initially tried AA. I really liked the fellowship. I drifted over to SMART Recovery and took an analytical look at my behavior. I read Rational Recovery and incorporated AVRT into my though processes. All that helped. I think of most help was Allan Carr's Easy Way though. It changed the way I feel about alcohol. I no longer feel that I am depriving myself of something valuable by abstaining. When I see people drink I am just happy that I don't have to do that anymore. Finally, this community has been a fabulous resource to me. I don't post much, but do read a lot. I feel comfortable here with you all.
To the Newcomers: You can recover! Try everything out there until you find something that works for you. There are many was to stop drinking.
Thanks all!

Congratulations. Your post gives me so much hope. I am incorporating AVRT into my own plan and have already ordered the Rational Recovery book. I have also heard great things about Carr's book. I need to get that as well.
