feeling raw

You start to wonder if you wouldn't feel less lonely than you are now, if you were completely without him. You, too, have become isolated from most of your social contacts, and it's hard to imagine yourself going out and meeting new people, making new friends and being desirable. And you don't even have the bottle for solace. Your pain is raw.

Janet G. Woititz. Marriage On The Rocks: Learning to Live with Yourself and an Alcoholic (p. 21). Kindle Edition.

From a book I am starting to read on Alcoholism .. Wowsers, that was a powerful quote for me!

That's a great passage you found. I can tell you that when I finally gave The X the boot, I felt very sad but I also felt a profound sense of peace. In dealing with the break-up of my family, I realized that I no longer had to factor in the daily insanity and uncertainty of living with this impulsive, inconsiderate person.

I actually feel a much lonelier ache being with someone who is emotionally absent and has a blatant disregard for my feelings and well-being, than from simply being alone.

I have never been lonely in my life....until...I lived with my exabf, a alcoholic/addict.

Today, I live by myself, and, I am not lonely...yet, alone.

Life is a song worth singing...and...I sing it!
