Glad to be back, days seemed like weeks.

I am very happy to be back with all of you great people here on SR. Recovery is key and I am feeling 100% confident that I can do this. I definitely do not want to relapse again, ever. So, I will be doing the 90 meetings in 90 days and abstaining from anywhere that sells alcohol. Even the grocery store. I am definitely more motivated. Day 2. Thanks for reading.

WB! Glad if you are gonna relapse, that you kept it short and came back. I see you are adding some things that weren't there before in your recovery plan. Good for you! That is the best indicator of those with the best chances of success in sobriety. Doing things differently than last try, which didn't work, beats doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I look forward to being with you in our sobriety online with this terrific group here. You're a part of us now, you do know that right?

Great attitude! You can if you think you can. I've seen you put a lot of effort into dealing with your drinking. If I may share some constructive (relapse preventive) thinking that has been helpful to me. 1. Thought Stopping: I'm not going to think about that; I've already made my decision. 2. Thought substitution: I'm in danger - I'd better be alert; I think I'll call Susan; I think I'll go jog. 3. Debating/Disputing/Challenging Your Addictive Voice: Where is the evidence? Is this thought or belief true or valid? How does this thought or belief serve my best interest? 4) Coping Statements: This feeling will eventually pass; It's hard, but not too hard; Condemn the behavior, not the person. 5) Positive Affirmation: I have said no to myself before - I can do it again; I'm going to treasure my sobriety; Even if I have lapsed, I can accept myself. 6) Review of Goals (Desirable Outcomes): I want to stop drinking - it's my goal; I have already decided that I want to develop a good relationship with my daughter; I want to go home sober. 7) Review of Negative Consequences (Undesirable Outcomes): Eventually, I will lose my job; I can't take two drinks without taking many more and getting drunk; my relationships will suffer. 8) Refraining: Look at the situation from another angle or another (sober) persons viewpoint. Look at the benefits of choosing not to engage in the addictive behavior. 9) Rational-Emotive Imagery: Imagine yourself behaving or feeling differently about the situation. Close your eyes and practice responding to someone in a different, more rational, more effective manner.

Thanks everyone!

Tanja, thanks, that is a really great idea :o)

I havent been able to find someone I am comfortable with to be my sponsor. I will really have to try harder.

Day 3, with many more to come

P.S. - Waking up without a hangover is the best! lol

How are you doing this part? I drive out of my way so I don't go near the store but will have to go shopping soon. There are no stores here that don't sell alcohol, even non-grocery stores have a liquor section.

I am having other people go to the grocery store for me to eliminate distraction.
