Becoming New!
I made a decision to become a new me!
I started abusing opiates and alcohol in my mid teens and now at the age of 25, I decided that they aren't going to control my life anymore.. I am.
Last Friday was the last time I've used any substances, besides small amounts of Suboxone to help me through the withdrawals of opiates.. Here I am one week later, which happens to be a Friday night on Halloween weekend, and haven't used anything! I feel great for the most part.. It's a little weird to be sober when I see everyone else drunk.. But I'm committed!

Good for you! You can do this. Many here have. You sound truly commited, and that's what it takes. Maybe seek out some face-to-face support, like AA or NA? Couldn't hurt.
Keep that commitment strong, and best to you.

Welcome, and thanks for sharing that new found euphoria with all of us, AntGenovese. We all remember that feeling of elation and relief we experienced after making that promise to make a new whole person from that nasty mess we once were. You are well on your way, keep us posted as you travel on your journey.
Welcome AntGenovese!
Sounds like you already have a whole week clean/sober, which is fantastic! It does feel strange at first, but every day is another chance to practice just being the real you. Keep your positive attitude and know that we're always here for support!

Welcome! I always like reading posts from a young person like you that realize drugs and booze lead you nowhere (well, maybe jail, hospitals, or the morgue - at the very least, a lot of heartache and life changing mistakes in judgement.) Keep posting and let us know how you progress. I am proud of you.
