Question/proposal

This doesn't have to do with recovery, per sé, but I didn't know where else to post this. I think there should be a "foros en español" section in the special interest groups.

This certainly explains why I don't find your posts particularly disturbing. Might pose a problem for the mods if they don't speak Spanish, though. :-)

For me it's the questions you've asked. I appreciate you!

That your point of view regarding alcoholism is not foreign to me. Being from Latin America, I am quite familiar with such sentiments.

Hmm...

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...p-spanish.html

There's an "English-only rule" on here, for real?

Yes, 'for real'.

This is our Policy and it's stated in the Policies, Rules & Regulations:

4. The official language of the main forum is English, in the interest of reaching the widest audience.

There are lots of good suggestions and advice in the thread you quoted:

You could start your own, add advertisements, make money! All I found were Spanish-English translation sites!

Well. I still think there should be a Special Interest group for it. Especially given that AA is international, and there are AA and Al-Anon meetings in Spanish all over the US.

The "main forum", which is why I suggested a Special Interest group.

SR, like any, forum simply can't be all things to everyone.

We haven't got the staff for one. Even if we did, we'd be inundated with requests for other languages and other interests and points of view to be catered for - we'd end up with a bewildering multitude of forums.

I think that would impact negatively on our effectiveness.

I think there's a philosophical component too - our focus has always been on the things that bring us together, not what sets us apart.

There are other recovery sites out there catering to all kinds of communities - including Spanish speakers.

good luck finding them Choublak

All our forums here are part of the main forum, and any Special Interest group would also be a part of the main forum, unless you are planning to start something totally separate from Sober Recovery?

It might be that you need to look elsewhere for what you want.
