500 days...SR.com can help you get there too!
It's been quite a journey these 500 (consecutive) days without alcohol. I'm fairly certain that during my entire drinking career, from age 15 to 28, there were not 500 days that I went without alcohol. So it's truly a blessing that I've been able to string that many days together.
I'm not on here as much as I used to be, but the lessons I've learned from the awesome people at SR.com help me every single day. Sometimes it's not even about having a drink; it's just about keeping a positive attitude and dealing with whatever life throws at me. It's also about keeping it 1 Day at a Time, in regards to my relationship with alcohol as well as other issues in my life. I've found that the lessons I've learned to help me deal with drinking are also applicable to almost every aspect of my life. My recovery is about changing my entire life, and that started that first day I put down a beer and decided to go to an AA meeting. I found this site that night, and the rest is history.
Like I said, I'm not here as much as I once was, but I'm so thankful that when I log in I still see the same people here helping the Newcomers. Carol, Dee, least...There's too many to name, but thanks so much for everything you do here.
Hopefully I'll get to know some of the recent Newcomers. If you're reading this and you've just recently decided to stop drinking, or if you're thinking about your future and you know you can't keep going the way you are but you're also nervous and worried and scared about a future without alcohol, you needn't be. Your life can be more amazing than you dream it can be, this I promise you. But we all have to take the right steps and do the right things in order to make that life a reality rather than a dream. Sure, it's a long journey. But every journey begins with a single step. My first step was pouring that beer down the sink, rather than down my throat. If you're struggling today, I hope that first step is right around the corner for you.
Thanks so much to all the awesome people here, and thanks to those who are just now joining us. I hope you will find the help you need somewhere in these forums. I know I did.

You can, I promise. If you ask anyone who knows me, I'm a different person than I was 16+ months ago. Just do like I did: take it 1 day, 1 problem at a time. And before you know it the days will have just added up and you'll think, "Well, how did that happen?" Just stick close to good people and always have your mind on your recovery, and you'll be able to pull through any tough time you face.
