Another sober weekend!
Another sober weekend!
I used to drink my share (and his share and her share, etc) during the week, but when the weekends came, all bets were off! I could easily polish off a case and a half of beer on Saturday and come back for another case and a half on Sunday. When I started drinking at age 14, the weekends were when I could get hammered and not worry about having to get up for school. When I got to college I discovered that I could schedule my classes so the weekends could start on Thursday night...what a great deal that was! All in all, for nearly 30 years, I hardly ever missed a chance to get drunk on the weekend.
All of that changed a little over two years ago when I stopped drinking for good. At first, I was afraid that I wouldn't know what to do with myself. That feeling didn't last very long as I picked up on some hobbies that I let fall by the wayside when I was drinking. Now, I don't have enough free time to pursue everything I want to. I still look forward to my weekends, but now for more fulfilling reasons.
Have a safe and sober weekend everyone!

Oh yeah, I was really scared yesterday afternoon as the weekend was coming. I, too, am a (former) beer lover (today). It has been difficult all days this week, but the mind f--- of it being the weekend was creeping up on me. But, funny how an hour of cardio helps take that edge off. Still sober on this Saturday night (my 8th day sober). Yay! LOL

since I stopped I actually started to look forward to my weekends. I really started to enjoy them. Interesting enough I still have the thought of buying a drink in my mind, but I learned to shut this one up. I have now hardly time enough to finish what is needed on the weekends. I am really afraid to think back how I managed my time while drinking.....
Congrats on 2 years FBL, I'm glad you got your hobbies back after 30 years of drinking, this is what worried me after i got sober of 30 years of drinking is would they ever come back. It took some time for me but they did come back and like that saying I heard her.."If you walk 10 miles into the woods it's going to take more then just a few steps to get out again" So True.....
Be proud of yourself FBL you deserve it.
