The Pet Sitter is *IN* ... (c:
hi! -
Well, I'm officially pet sitting for
the head of the Department at the College.
Two dogs =- Fresca (border collie) and Shiloh (collie/shepherd mix).
Neither has EVER had any manners lessons.
But - they are good girls
and not completely convinced
they are, in fact: dogs.
Today was the first day -
he's got like FIVE people coming over
doing yard work, house keeping,
one guy is even being paid to organize
about three thousand CD's.
He's concerned the dogs will be left alone
and he arranged for them to have 'company'
all day - every day.
I'm to spend the night if I think they're depressed
(I know - he's the cutest man, really)
and if I can teach them anything
he'd appreciate it.
LOL
Meanwhile -
this afternoon,
it occurred to me
how important his 'girls' are to him
and *I* am the one
he wanted to be 'in charge'
of all the other company keepers
with the ultimate say-so about the dogs.
For him it's an ultimate kind of trust.
That's a long way from a broken down
drunk who didn't have a pot to pi** in
and a ruined reputation.
That's what this whole 'recovery' thing is -
(I reckon)
rebuild.
repair.
renew.
So while I'm there this afternoon -
my friend springs on me that
she's going to Vegas with her brother
and she wants me to move into her house for a week
and take care of HER dog
and keep her nosy sister
from going through her stuff.
lol
But it's the same situation.
Trust.
I've become trust - worthy again.
And I didn't even notice it'd happened.
ANyhoo -
going to hit the shower
am a TEENSIE bit gamey
after an evening with the 'girls'.
Thanks for reading!

Yes I DO!
I have all YOU!
Yes,I *do* seem to be attracted to the more ... unique folk.
They're more interesting IMO.
I don't think I know a single 'normal' person.
Now that I think about it.
Huh.
Kewel!

Hey Barb,
Those are two high energy dogs, I am sure they are wonderful!
Yep, keep them as busy as possible.
And, Cesar Milan! Be the pack leader!
LOL
trust worthy, oh yeah, someone told me that today.
what an honor.

Not like watering someone potted plants.
Taking care of someone fur children ranks very high in the trust department, and these pups definitely sound like his children.
You have come a long way, baby, that's for sure. And your true desire to maintain that trust and let it grow is something you can focus on to help keep you living the recovery you have worked so hard far.
PROUD OF YOU!!!!
Enjoy those pups, they're gonna keep you hoppin

Any one who worries about his puppies getting depressed is just about the sweetest. South of France, does he need an admin. assistant? Cuz I'll volunteer: I'd love to type correspondence, answer phones, take messages (Je parle un peu Francais. If they speak really, really slow, I might understand. ), manage meeting calendars, pick up dry cleaning, pick up baguettes and espresso... in France! Oh, for a vacation.... Dang it....
I'd agree that it's a very high honor to be asked to watch furry members of the family. Have fun with the 'girls'.

Just got back from the morning visit.
Spent about four hours over there,
the girls are having a nap ...
I can see right now I'm going to be having more showers.
Just a TAD funky.
My computer won't work over there
although it's the same provider.
I thought I'd call them this afternoon
and see if there's something I can do.
OTW
it's no computer while I"m there.

(((Barb))) - I totally agree that anyone who trusts you with their furbabies has the ultimate trust in you. It doesn't surprise me, knowing you, but I know how good it feels when that "I'm trustworthy" feeling sinks in.
I'm thinking when word gets around, you may have more "jobs" like this. Sounds like a pretty cool thing, to me!
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

Yes Impurfect =-
there's a classmate in Rocker
(about ten miles from here)
who's just 'dying' for me to come
meet/fool around with her three horses.
I *know* that would be one of those
'just stay here at the house so we can go outa town' things.
The minute you get stock - you're tied to your land.
Not a bad gig, though. (c:

He must think very highly of you to put his girls in your hands. I have to travel quite a bit and never go anywhere without a framed photograph of Micky, my shih tzu. You sound like a terrific person.
Strange characters are the best! they are the ones that make the story, play, movie, interesting! Nothing worse like boring emotionless people!
I went to lunch one day and I met a couple... they didn't even say "how are you?" to me.. I dislike that and think its rude to meet someone and don't even go to the basics of good manners!
Then I meet someone else and we can talk for hours and hours even if we have nothing much in common...
I like those people, where the conversation just never ends, like here in SR
Good luck with the flurry ones!

Went over to the girls this morning -
IT WAS SNOWING!!!!!
I'm so GLAD I had this .... intuitive moment
and brought in the flowers he'd bought
before leaving all these beautiful pansies
would be flat right now if I hadn't!
His instructions were -
"Just plant them anywhere you think they'll look good"
He's got a wonderful garden/yard
very small almost japanese but well tended
(the gardener gets doggie poo detail outside)
so I don't even have to deal with THAT!
BUT _
the inside of the house is playing havoc with my allergies.
Every time I go
I open the front and back doors
and take the 'oops' carpet thing outside
but the house smells like there's two full time dogs in residence.
And that's tearing up my sinuses.
But it was too COLD to sit outside with them today.
SO I came home early
and took an allergy pill
and aspirin for the headache.
wow.
SNOW... in June.
Talk about a buzzkill.
