4th Step
Hey all i'm new on this site. I have been looking around to find a 4th Step working guid on the 7 Deadly Sins.
I am a recovering addict, I have used the NA Steps working guid once before , but i am looking outside what NA has to offer on the the 4th step.
I have been told AA has a 4th step guide useing the Seven Deadly Sins and would like to use this format for my 4th Step.
I have been looking on the Hazelden site, they have a few books but i am not sure if they are what i am looking for.
If anyone can point me in the right direction this would be much appreiciated.
Ta Chris

Welcome...
Have you done a Google for the 7 deadly sins?
I read about it somewhere .sorry I don't recall where
and no...I did not use it.
Instead..I did my 4th from the AA BB.
It might be from either of these recovery programs
http://www.celebraterecovery.com/
or
http://www.alcoholicsvictorious.org/12-steps.html
hope you find what you need to do...recovery really rocks...

My own experience with working the 4th step was that coming at them from the point of view of the seven deadly sins did not work. Working the fourth from the deadly sin POV ("sin" being simply that which cuts us of from our higher power)... is, to put it bluntly... working it backwards!
Yes, backwards.
My own experience was that I picked out a few of these seven that "seemed" to fit... OK, so great, just take those into the 5th step and beyond... but that just didn't work too well for me
Ah... but the 4th step is meant to shine a light on these so-called defects of character... ie they are hiding... we don't always see them... we have to root them out and bring them into the light of day. I'l never ever forget the day I finally freakin' "got it"... the sin that I needed to take into my 5th 6th and 7th step was not on my original list yet it was the one that had truly stood in my way to recovery... It was truly an epiphany.
The precise instructions on how to do that are in the big book. Yea, they seemed to me to be pretty cryptic also... And I scratched my head plenty of times... but like Frothy said... Find someone who knows how to do it show you. There is a 12 step forum and there is a 4th step sub section... I found some answers there... but working with others is kinda the whole point of the AA and NA fellowships.

Hope you understand what I mean, Chris. We don't do the steps alone. We find a guide-- someone who has had an experience with the steps and can help us.
The directions for the steps start on page 30 in the Big Book and end on page 103.
I don't know much about forms to fill out and other books. I don't believe they are necessary.
