Hello all....beginning of Day 4

Looking forward to a nice weekend...booze will have no part of it. Still trying to get my priorities straight, that being exercise, eating right, losing weight, and house and yard work. To bed early, up at the break of dawn with a nice hot cup of java.

Would love an update as to how the rest of you are hanging in there!

Good stuff. The weekend is where the challenge is! I hope you can do it. Stay strong sounds like you have a lot of things to keep you occupied.

I'm on day 6 - pretty confident I can and will avoid drink tonight. Tomorrow is a hard one for me - it's the 1 year anniversary of my friends suicide - so there's like 10 of us (23-25 y.o's) meeting up. Pretty sure drink will be a big element of the night but I'm going to try be strong and lay it out that I'm not out to get trashed.

day 20 and I feel great. I wanted a drink BAD last Saturday. I called my sponsor and read out of the big book (I think it was the big book LOL) The temptation passed and I felt great. Its so awesome to wake up with a clear head and not feel terrible for the previous nights events.

You think it was the big book? Don't you know this?

Weekend without it :)

Hi there Chris ,
You and I are the same timeline right now. I wish you well and hope you have a great weekend. This will be my first weekend without alcohol. I cannot remember in the last 30 years when my last weekend with alcohol was. Isnt that sad ???

Good morning! Day 4 for me too. It's going to be a good weekend. Nothing beats waking up with a clear head! Chris, from what I've read it seems you were more of a weekend warrior than an everyday drinker- is there anything this weekend that is going to be challenging for you? I've got my weekend mostly planned out with activities that will make it easier for me not to drink.

Chris - Day 40 for me and it has passed by so quickly. I drank every night but weekends were usually an all day winefest. I've been struggling with what do with myself when I'm not drinking but this site has been really helpful, along with my addiction specialist. I've been slowly introducing things back into my life and thanks to your recent posts about exercising (which I was holding back from), I went to Yoga last night with my daughter and even though it was extremely difficult because I've been so sedentary for so long, it felt so great when I was finished and we both joined the fitness center. No excuses now and something to do most evenings. SO, thank you and congrats on Day 4...you seem to have all the right tools to make it and everyone here is pulling for you!

Way to go, Chris! Definitely keep busy, that's my advice to you. (Although "busy" to me not only included lots of exercise, but also sleeping, going for long drives to nowhere—just not allowing myself to have even 10 minutes to sit around and think about what I'd normally do. You're gonna love it when Monday morning rolls around and you've got the weekend under your belt—it's a huge confidence builder!

Yes, RebelAngel...I will be checking in on Monday! I don't enjoy my life when I drink too much...I kick myself all day long, for a few days...I can't take it anymore.

Elmer...you can do it, and I can too. Honestly, I am looking forward to waking up feeling good for a change. I don't drink during the week, but usually Saturday night is my night...then feel horrible on Sunday, getting zero done. I have some living to do...I am a very settled person and love my home life with my angel kitties. They depend on me...as silly as that sounds. But they do. I do rescue work and I must continue doing that. I feel like I have been killing myself. Elmer, check here this weekend, I will post Saturday, Sunday, and Monday as well. This weekend could be an amazing one for you...think of it that way!!!

Hi March...good for you, keep it up. I am more of a once-a-week drinker, and overdo it EVERY time. I feel horrible the next day or two, kick myself to the curb over and over again. A friend and I typically get together (she is worse than I am), smoking and drinking the night away. They I revert to my old self for another week, just disgusted with both alcohol and cigs. I just decided I cannot waste another day like that...I eat horrible afterwards, for a few days. Usually what sets me off is something happens at work, or I get excited about something that happened, and want to get together with a friend or two. I do not go "out". Want to stay home this weekend and get some things done exercise, watch a movie, etc. March, let me know how you are this weekend!

Be strong Rickie. Honestly, I know that if a friend asked me to go and meet them, I would have a perrier. I know it is difficult...what you are going through though. And to boot, you are very young. As you get older, things change, your views on life change, and to be honest, don't care so much about what "others" think. Hang in there my friend.

I joined SR on my day 4, and now it's 8.5 months later and I still haven't had a drink

I have no sensation of "hanging in there" anymore. The first days and weeks just crawled by...now a half a month can go by without me thinking about how long I've been sober.

Have a great weekend!!!

Murray

By the way Murray, BC is one of my favorite places in the world. Went to Whistler years ago, want to go back and climb Black Tusk! Gorgeous.

Maybe we should start a thread of our favorite place we have traveled...might take our minds off of you know what! LOL.

Day 4 for me too and I am feeling pretty good physically and confident I wont be drinking today. I have developed an ice cream addiction but I wont be working on that just yet.

Congrats on day 4. I am closing out day 3 so I am right behind you. I have been drinking hard the last 10 years and I was very worried about withdrawal issues. So far so good. Like you, I am going to spend the weekend working on my house and getting some exercise. I am transfering $20 to my savings account for every day I don't drink.
