When to tell a family member

My husband is a huge pot smoker and has been for 15 years. I have kept this a secret from my family. My sister is having trouble with her teenage daughter. I want to offer her daughter to live with me for a while to show support but I can't because of my husband. Do I tell my sister about my issue and say that I would take her daughter in but....
I feel so bad that every time she tells me that she wants her daughter to live else where for awhile to show her that her life is not that bad, that I just change the subject in fear that she will ask me & then what do I say...
(her daughter is 16).

Do I share whats going on or do I just let it be?

Hi lost, I'm sorry to hear about your husband and your niece. Perhaps you won't have to tell you sister if you don't want to, as long as she never asks you point-blank to take her daughter for a while.

However, you might find that both you and your sister would find some relief in talking things over, knowing that the other understands......

Hugs, HG
