Oh no...

Day 32.

Thank you everyone for all the support and help you've given me over the past few weeks. Love you all for that! But I've had a really ****** day today. Something came up from years ago that I've tried to bury in my mind and I think, because I'm now sober, this memory has come back to haunt me. I can't say what it is but I really just need some support guys. I'm feeling low and really really depressed. Still off the booze! Staying strong!

Things will resurface BSU....I always liken sobriety to the tide going out and all the debris and driftwood that's been there for years is now uncovered.

Whatever it is, it was years ago BSU.
You can't change it now matter how badly you want to.

Each of us has to learn to live with our mistakes - and thats a lot different to drinking them away and forgetting. It takes time and practice.

I try to focus on today and the stuff I know I can change, y'know?
Today, and who I am in it, is what matters.

What a wonderful analogy, Dee! I'm going to file that in my mental filing cabinet for later use.

Big hugs to you for staying strong and getting to day 32. TAke it a minute or an hour at a time if you have to, if a day is too long. Try to focus on the moment, instead of what's past. Try to distract yourself. (I used to walk my dogs a lot to keep myself busy and healthy - the dogs loved all the walks.)

It will get better, I'm sure of it.

Thanks Dee. It's just so hard to chuck it all to the back of my mind. Y'know?

Any techniques you can share?

I had a bit of counselling to be honest - a lot of listing of priorities, and listing the things I could do something about, and the stuff I couldn't - journalling my feelings - trying always to focus on today.

Just keeping busy and productive today helps me too BSU
