How many addictions are enough?
Stepped on the scale this morning and it said 219 lbs. I checked the batteries, but they're fine. I think the scale may be off, because it's digital, lol.
It was easier to keep the weight down when I was drinking, because I wouldn't eat if I were going out, cause it lessened my buzz.
So let's see, alcoholic, overeater, addicted to exercise, addicted to the internet, watch too much tv, clean freak, addicted to chocolate shakes, and have recently added steaks ( for protein, lol).
How many addictions do I need? Are these enough? Do you think I should add a couple more?
Geez, why can't I just be perfect???? ARGHHHHH

GArh, I can so relate. opposite issues, though. . .
weight was up while drinking. . .now that I quit, I started being healthier in food and started working out. Now, I am obssessed with the scale. . .getting on every day. Having a hard time getting myself to eat. Working out at least twice a day. . .blah, blah, blah
man, am i messed up.

Thanks All,
I'm changing my screen name to El Blimpo, lol.
Just when you think you've got it figured out, wham, another proble to deal with. I thought I was doing ok and do feel better emotionally, spiritually and physically, but I don't know where this appetite came from. I eat really well now, no more midnight snacks to suck up the booze, and I've been exercising daily, but I tipped the scales at 219 this morning and that's the heaviest I've ever been. I'm 5'10 and feel ok, but I've never been this heavy.
Ok, so I'm cutting back on the shakes, will eat more seafood instead of see food, and hopefully get this undercontrol soon.
After 50, losing weight is like pulling teeth.
Couple more weeks and I should be close to perfect, lol!!!

Hey, I'm a personal trainer, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding diet and exercise. Keep in mind, you didn't add that weight overnight, and its not gonna come overnight either, but you can do it. PM me and give me a food log for a couple days, and we'll work on it!!
You may find they feed into each other.
I overeat when I'm hungover.
I get depressed when I drink which makes me hide behind my laptop screen.
Really, it sounds like you're addicted to escapism. Get a handle on what you're avoiding and I'm guessing a lot of those will melt away.

It is strange to really look at how many things we are addicted to.
I was thinking that I should quit chocolate, caffeine, and excess sugar when I quit alcohol! But in reality, I decided quitting alcohol was most urgent. My hope is that when I really heal and let go of the pain that is underneath the addictions, eating healthier will be easier.
And I like the muscle weighs more than fat justification!
