For my own well being.
For my dogs, so I can monitor their health and behavior better.
For my dogs, so I can give them the loving care they need and deserve.
For my dogs, because they love me and deserve my best love in return.

For my dogs.
To live a fulfilling life.
To reconnect with family and friends.
For my physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
To develop empathy and connection with others.
To be happy with what I have and not always crave 'more.'

I completely forgot to mention the financial part...I am saving over $200. a month that I used to spend on alcohol....now, since May, i take that $$ and apply it to the principal amount of my mortgage...(it makes me feel good mentally that I can do this and not fritter it away).
1. To love myself and others again
2. To learn to appreciate the little things in life
3. To help others deal with this horrible disease
4. To get healthy in body, mind and soul
5. To be a good role model for my children

1. To be able to live the life the God of my (mis)understanding wants me to life.
2. See #1
3. Because it makes me feel good about myself - which generally makes me happy
4. Because living the way I was, prior to sobriety, had me contemplating suicide and it started making sense.
5. Because I was sick and tired of constantly doing things I didn't want to be doing.

What a great thread!
1) To prove to myself that im as strong as I ever have been
2) Less stress, anxiety, and financial problems
3) To change societys view of such a ridiculous substance most people have some kind of habit with.....one drinker at a time.
4) Because life is happier, safer and more productive this way.
5) Dealing with lifes problems sober is a lot more fulfilling. Im getting my confidence in myself back - revert to #1.

Here it goes:
1. I won't have to have that awful feeling in my stomach when my wife says, "Do you remember what you did (said) last night?"
2. I won't have to go through the undignifying task of making up excuses for not coming to work that everyone with a lick of sense knows aren't true.
3. I won't have to make up an excuse to my six-year old as to why daddy couldn't get out of bed until 1:00 in the afternoon and he doesn't feel well enough to do anything now that he's up.
4. I won't have experiences like this past Sunday when I open up my wallet and find $120 in bar bills that I can't afford on the American Express card.
5. I won't have high blood pressure and heartburn so bad that I literally feel like it's buring a hole right through my chest.
And I've been doing this crap for 24-1/2 years. I'm either dumber than the day is long or I'm really sick.

My top 5 reasons to stay clean and sober:
1. I like that my life is no longer spiralling out of control.
2. I am no longer paranoid that everyone is judging my drinking and partying.
3. I am healthier because I am taking better care of myself.
4. I don't worry about losing my job or my house due to alcohol abuse.
5. Overall I feel better about myself - I look better, have more respect for myself, and I am taking my life more serious these days.
