Thumbs up TOPIC: OMG I'm SOBER...!

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

If you can say that urself feel free
to do so. And if you are on ur way
you to will be able to say that as
well.

Dont ever lose hope.

I was out and about this afternoon
riding in my car, music playing and
once again it hit me....

OMG I'm Sober..!

Then i thought......man i can do
whatever i want to do today and
do it sober.

Everything, well almost, i use to
do when i was drinking i can do
today without a drink.

Sure alcohol made me feel sexier,
wild and cazy, secretive, seductive...
u name it.....mean, angry, beligerant,
liar, and so on.....

......I was in my car riding with a
short summer dress on....sandals,
lovely tattoos, belly and nose
pierces, micro dermal crystals
i placed on my chest, singing....
just feeling free and happy.

We as alcoholics/addicts, i feel
are in a class all of our own.
Meaning no one understands us
unless you are one.

So if a car pulls up next to u at
a light u can be jamming away
and they havent a clue as to whether
u r drunk or high and yet we know
we r sober and enjoying the heck
out of life.

We can act as crazy and high on
life as much as we want and never
have to explain ourselves to anyone.

We r who we r and how cool is
that?

So party on Garth..!

Haven't yet placed any micro dermal crystals on my chest (lol), but otherwise I so get what you are saying!

It hits me now every so often, exactly that... "OMG I'm bloody sober!!" realization. Usually happens when I catch myself enjoying something - without being off my face drunk.

Post is right on time Sharon!!

Micro dermal crystals? What are they? Do they get you high?

On second thought I don't want to know.

Dgillz, dude you crack me up. AASharon, that's for reminding me to be grateful. I sometimes get caught up in all the crap that comes with work and such and that remindeed me that 6 years ago I lost my job to this disease and that thought made me grateful, Thanks again.

One of the latest trends in body
piercing is micro dermal anchors,
which is actually a cross between
a surface piercing and an implant.

I think I just heard the "crystal" part and my addictive mind took over.

Sometimes, for no reason, my mind gets amazed and happy at the realization that I'm sober now, sober for good, and that all my efforts have finally paid off. The obsession to drink is gone. I no longer think of drinking when the going gets rough. I am so grateful to be sober and owe a huge debt of gratitude to my friends here, my alcohol counselor, and my friends in AA for never giving up on me.
