For my sister

Spoke to my mum last night, and she told me that my sister has gone into a private clinic to get off the booze, acknowledging she has been drinking out of control. Must be desperate, as this place costs a mint and sis there fore 28 day rehab program.

Mum has never been to alanon in her life, but is as detached as anyone I know who has been going for years. She asked for my prayers, and said "that is all anyone can do, it really is up to her." Right on, oh wonderful 98 year old.

Frankly, it isn't only drinking 3 bottles of wine a night, it is the chronic depression and negativity of over 60 years that needs addressing.

Oh, Lord....I give her into your healing hands and merciful keeping.

God bless

Sending prayers also.

I found that when my husband was sober for awhile, the negativity and depression was gone. It was replaced with the ability to have fun and enjoy things. (Which it would have stayed that way)

Hoping your sister finds her ability to laugh and enjoy life and hold onto it.

Jadmack, keeping you all in my thoughts and discussions with HP. Your mom sounds like an amazing lady. I'd agree with Impurrfect that you take after her.

Thanks to you all for your support and prayers, for my AS and the family. I must admit I was somewhat stunned when mum told me about sis putting herself in for alcohol abuse, as she has always insisted that she only drank because she liked to, not because she had to.
When I was told where she was, it did blow me away....and honestly I don't get how she can afford a day there, let alone a 28 day program. Mum doesn't know either, and said it wasn't her paying out and it isn't our problem.

I have felt so sad about sis, for not having been able to enjoy life for all these years, and missing out on so much, especially with her kids. She has missed out at every point in their lives, being either drunk or depressed.

She didn't even want to go to her only daughter's wedding overseas, earlier this year, and mum had to really push her into going.....she looked anything but happy, and couldn't even crack a smile for a photo......that of course upset the bride.

Now I pray that she will be given the greatest blessings, God can provide, and finally experience the joys of life, family and whatever.

Thanks and please keep the prayers going for her.

God bless
