Interesting article.
I never was aware of this: "The super-predator did not surface,". "Super predator" theory and I'm happy it did not come about.
But I do think that crack babies have similar birth defects (if you will) to babies born of alcoholics. i.e. limited I.Q. I believe that many of them have been physically damaged - gene and chromosome wise.
I also believe that a warm, loving enviornment has more effect on the success of a human being than thier biological beginnings.
IMHO - a loving family cures a whole bunch of biological ills. Surely love cannot conquer all and many "crack babies" have been biologically damaged beyond repair.
You just have to pick a baby and love it and hope it all comes out alright - just as if a baby were born to you and you had no options to pick from.
