My story
My story
I never really told my story on here, here is a quick timeline of my drinking. Also, my grammer, wording, etc is very poor, never been good at it.. so I apologize for that.
I remember when I had my first drink at 17, the first time I felt that "buzz" I loved it. Until then I was a good boy who would never drink, but I was invited to a party by a girl and wanted to look cool.
I spent the next 2 years trying to get friends who were older then me to buy me alcohol on the weekend. 19 is legal drinking age here so when I was 19 I started to buy my own nearly every weekend.
By the time I was 23 I was not only binge drinking every Fri and Sat night, but I had started having a few drinks when I came home from work nearly every night. This continued until i was about 27 when I got laid off of work.
Getting laid off work was the worst thing for my drinking.. I started ealier and ealier in the day until finally I was drinking as soon as I woke up. I was laid off a full year and pretty much drank the entire time I was off.
Once I went back to work, my drinking during the week went back to drinking a few after work... but during the weekend I would be drunk pretty much the entire time.. morning till night. I was always very sick on monday and couldn't remember what I had done all weekend. This continued until This past new years(I'm 30 now) when I found this place.
I am now nearly 3 months sober the longest I have been sober since I was that 17 year old kid trying to impress a girl by showing how "manly" I was. I consider myself lucky to have came to the realization that I needed to quit while I was still relatively young.
Thank you.

30 is young to get it! Have you got a program in place, e.g. AA? I went to an AA meeting or two at 30 and was sorting myself out at the time, think i had about 5 months under my belt at the time, i thought what a load of rubbish...went back when i was 38...pretty amazing how bad it gets, hope you don't have to find out for yourself too...congrats on the 3 months:-)
Krodos, thanks for sharing your story. Mine's very similar, except I didn't get it for 20 more years! Be proud of yourself. You're on the way to leading a full life without being in a fog half the time. I'd give anything to go back & do it all again without the booze.
It's great you found SR - it's made all the difference in my life too.

Just wanted to pop in and update, I'm a day or so away from 4 months sober now. It feels like forever since I have drank. I'm not much of a talker, but I'm still lurking around here reading some stories and whatnot, many thanks to all of you.
