Hi! I'm Rick in Atlanta.
I was sober (alcohol) for 21 years, relapsed for 3 and have now been sober again since September.
My favorite things are target shooting including Olympic ten meter air guns, politics, books, movies, working on my 1994 Toyota 4x4 truck and enjoying my pets which are cats and eastern box turtles.
I'm really looking forward to getting to know the fine folks here.
Thanks!

Could I axe you a question?
I tried to use a pic I have at Fotoime of one of my critters for an avatar and I can't even though it is definitely within the size limit.
Smaller, actually.
Is it because I am so new you think?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I think I got Elvis (the cat in my avatar) AS my avatar using photobucket...you may want to try that. If it IS something about being new (and I really don't think it is), I think once you have 5 posts you can pm other members so you aren't "new" any more so try it again after the 5 posts?

CONGRATS on your return, Rick!
I, too, relapsed after 21 years! What a coincidence! I got sober ("quote - unquote") in October of 1986, and then, on January 21, 2008, I deliberately picked-up a pain killer instead of a phone!
Even though I had only one pain killer, and don't even remember getting high off of it, it was a deliberate attempt to escape the present, which is what I used to do with booze and drugs so many decades ago! They say God doesn't make mistakes, so I think my sobriety (honesty and sincerity) is better this time around.
So.......welcome back! I think we are in the RIGHT place this time!

Welcome!
Your story is real simular to a guy here that had the same amount of sobriety when he went back out. He now is pushing 3 years again, is really focused on a lot of learnings. Glad your here! I have my sobriety date 9/08/2009 so I am grateful for that. Nice to meet you

Welcome to SR, Rick!
If you're still having problems with your avatar, you might check out the 'technical issues' forum at the very beginning of SR for help. It's a forum just like this newcomer's one.
Would love to see your critter(s) and look forward to hearing more from you!
