I know. I hate to change my phone number. It's mine. Ya know.
He sent two more texts:
"Are you there?"
"Hello."
Part of me wants to text him back to let him know that I know what he's up too. But there's no point he will just lie.

If you respond, you will just start the dance all over again. The very best thing for you to do is to turn off your phone and find something to do that will occupy your mind.

Here is what he has been up to that I know of (which isn't much but unrealiability and hearsay from others):
My ex was supposed to be living in Montana with his family.
3 weeks ago I received a phone call from his brother in law in MT, stating he and my ex were coming out for a visit and could he come by the following Sunday for a visit. I made it clear he was welcome to visit but my ex could not stay at my house.
A little over a week ago my son called my ex (his father) who said he was coming back to Seattle in 7 days.
The next day I got a phone call from a notorious crack motel by the airport in Seattle (several 1000 miles from MT) from his brother in law asking me for my ex's phone number because he had taken his truck the night before and not come back.
I never heard anything else from either of them until today, when my ex texted me to ask "how are you."
In the meantime, his family (BIL and mother) have disconnected their phones (which is strange behavior but something they have done in the past when my ex was using).
So I don't know exactly what he has been up to, only that something strange has been going on, and it's causing me uncertainty and a bad feeling in my gut. I suspect he's been using but I don't know for sure.

Sorry for the drama Kitty. I know you would love for your little guy to have a 'dad' in his life. It would be tough to NOT allow him to see him - but in the end it sounds like it's best for your ds to not allow that.
I know with my AH being gone outta sight, outta mind has been better. Not that I would ever try to fully break those ties, but the less he's around in active addiction the better. The less they ask about him etc.
Sorry this man continues to wreak havoc in your lives, but you've btdt all before when he pulls this crap

I got a new phone last October (not to endorse a company, but I like apples. ...I wanted to keep my old number, it was easy to remember, I liked it, and I got used to it being "my number"...
But when the phone carriers were switched, they gave me a new number by accident.
I was so bummed. But then I shrugged my shoulders, gave me an excuse to contact everyone with my new number...and I touched base with a few old friends to boot!
It can be a good thing...new number, new you.
Just sayin'
