quotes

You guys and gals give me any mantras or quotes or amphorisms that helped you get through tough times? I would love to hear them. My office at work needs a little renovation so to speak and encouraging words from you guys or from a book or song would be greatly appreciated here.

Personally, I'd like to have started with the post I just made about it being the psychological equivalent of taking a huge dump. At least I've learned enough about it to figure that out.

I TAKE ISSUE with many of those quotes, chery! Especially that second one! DO NOT SHARE YOUR PAIN WITH ME. I DO NOT WANT IT.

I was trying to explain to some annoying cosmopolitan hipsters how significant a social event it was that Oderus Urungus was going around like doing talk shows and news shows and stuff and being taken seriously. As you can imagine not only did they have no idea who he was until the next week when he was in the "HOUR" (free art newspaper), an event which ironically coincided with their becoming the authority on Oderus, GWAR, heavy metal and irony, the very idea of what I was talking about was totally lost to them. So obviously verifiably nowhere to be seen. Kind of like I imagine that the idea of sharing means nothing to a cat.

Yep, everything follows the same procedure, now instead of being "one of those um like weird metal dudes, that's so not lady gaga" he is a respectable social icon and represents the revolution that sheltered white people never figure out how to do properly or really get the point of.

I need to talk to the Prince of Stank again. You are on your way to becoming the New Che Guevara shirt somewhere out in space, truly a god among men.

They weren't meant for you, Dear. I have a whole different set of quotes specifically for you.

I love several of the ones from that site!
One of my faves is this one: "I've been beating up on myself so much I feel like hitting myself."
I really love "Just for Today". It wasn't on that site, that I saw, but I got it from NA and not AA.. My OOOO look it's solitaire kicked in too, so I didn't read all the recovery quotes, but I really loved several of the ones I read. Great find!

Some of them are kind of cheesy...others make you think. Some just made me laugh outloud.

People are getting really severe around here for no reason. It's really just discouraging.

Jim Norton of the Opie & Anthony show has said many a great thing in his time. They are too hilarious for posting so google up the wazoo.

I just want to share this video ... of this really trippy singer-lady ...

YouTube - Fever Ray 'When I Grow Up'

This is the coolest (and the most bizarrely catchy) song I've heard in a long, long time. The whole album's pretty amazing, but this track is my fave. It sounds especially good on headphones, esp. when you hear the actual cd instead of this compressed online version ... a lyrical snippet:

I’m very good with plants
When my friends are away
they let me keep the soil moist
and on the seventh day I rest
for a minute or two ...

If you are cool, you'll dig this song too

Oh, here's a pretty decent sound quality version from the interwebz w/o the video:

Chery.......I loved the quotes, thank you! Like you said, some are cheesy, some made me laugh out loud and others I had to write down to share with my friends. Your responses to vinter made me laugh out loud, too! We think alike, my dear!

Vinter.....if the quotes bother you, it's pretty simple, don't read them!

If I failed to mention it recently, when I grow up, I want to be you...
