well i detoxed and all that 2 months ago and started having a beer or two or 4 (no real benders) every night the last 3 weeks (2 months without anything). that sucks. i need to quit again,,,oh well tomorrow is day 1 again. what a crazy disease this is. My life is in order and I just do this crap for no reason. I feel so good when i dont drink. hope you all are good.

I had some false starts too..

I'm glad you're back. Maybe now you really affirmed in your head that it's just better to stay away from it, for good!

"And the truth, strange to say, is usually that he has no more idea why he took that first drink than you have. Some drinkers have excuses with which they are satisfied part of the time. But in their hearts they really do not know why they do it." AA Big Book, Ch2, 1stEd

That sums it up for me, dedubya. Your life is in order, you feel good not drinking, you know exactly where it will lead. And yet...

You might be an alcoholic like me.

i'm actually very sad that you continue to drink and rationalize away the serious nature of this progressive and fatal disease. It appears as if your are unwilling to completely surrender to this way of life and i feel sorry for you.
i hope and pray that you eventually hit such a bottom that the only place you have to go is up.

Hey
Last week I did 4 36 mile rides around 16-17mph avg (usually 18-19 when I am riding alone so I need some work)- first rides for a while, my legs were wasted (climbs involved). I am back training for a century in Aug- it really helps keep my sober. Hope you are good- hows your riding going?

flutter you hit the nail right on. I am a sporadic person, and appreciate your wisdom. the great feeling I had in those two months approx sober were the best two months i have had in a long time. best to you.

Better... after rehab last fall I fell out of my training routine, then this horrible rainy weather here in the northeast...

But getting some regular daily riding in lately... 15-20 miles.. 15-17 mph (rolling terrain).

There's a great century around these parts in Sept. which I am gonna ride in to help motivate me.

Keep on keepin on man!!! It took 25 years for me to finally surrender, admit i was powerless (over alot more than booze/drugs) and ask for help from something greater than myself. If you fall down, get back up, dust yourself off and try again.

It trips me out that people spend all that time in detox/rehab and then come out and figure a couple beers sound good. . .

baffling indeed

Glad your back
