I just took my dog for a walk on this beautiful summer night with a gentle breeze. I was drinking bottled water and enjoying the nice night. I remembered many nights in the recent past when I would walk my dog while drinking wine from a paper cup, kind of stumbling all over the place. I have been so lost and am just realizing this. I feel good about where I am and the progress I have made. I made it to Day 6, tomorrow, which is the most amount of time sober I have had in at least two years, maybe longer. I'm actually beginning to think I can do this.

I love cool breezy summer night walks. I dont have a dog so I just walk sometimes.
Its been raining here for like a week so I hope it goes away soon.
Glad you had a nice walk with your doggy. Theres plenty more for you in the future.

That's a great attitude, hopeful. I'm embarassed when I remember stumbling around the streets walking my puppy with a 7-11 coffee cup filled with beer. Thought I was slick. I'm sure no one noticed my glassy, red eyes or the smell of beer.....sad what we think we need to do to cope with life.

Enjoy life and your dog. My dog died about the same time I quit drinking(couple months ago). That dog was my "child"....I'm glad you have a positive attitude....

So sorry to hear that. That is incredibly painful. I know it's happened to me...My dog was my child also.

It's amazing you stayed sober through it. That is some strength. Great for you!

I recall many times walking with my friend and her dog sipping on something alcoholic, lol. It's nice to do every day things without having to have a drink in my hand.

I went for a roller blade along the seawall by the ocean tonight & then watched the sunset from the beach. It was gorgeous. I would never do that if I was drinking.

Funny things was... when I was walking down this one steep hill I remembered tripping & falling down this hill after an all night drink/coke bender with a friend years ago. When I got to the bottom of the hill my pants were around my ankles & there was a girl (and other people) laughing... how embarrassing lol. Drunk people can do some really stupid things... believe me I know.

I wouldn't even walk the dogs just find a place were they could run and i would not be bothered by anyone becuase i wanted to just sit and drink.

I was thinking the same thing. My dog has been so incredible and puts up with me and loves me no matter what. On the days when I was hungover, he would simply snuggle up with me and rest, not even requesting to play. It's like he understood.

Thanks for the words of support everyone. They mean a lot to me and I'm inspired to keep going after such a great night.
