Just wondering

Hi everyone,
I was up to day 5 on thursday and then I drank.I didn't really have a rough go of it other than I was disoriented couldn't sleep, little shaky,on thursday I started feeling sick(nautious, hot, cold, numb)I was just wondering if it's common to not be sick right away.it kind of freaked me out cause so many days had passed and I hadn't felt sick.Anyway I went out that night and drank......it feels like this is so impossible you all are very inspiring and I thank you.I'm just afraid I'm not gonna make it I don't know what to do or how to feel.....I'm so scared, hopeless, and unhinged

The top sticky post in our Alcoholism Forum
has info on withdrawing from alcohol.
By drinking again...you rstarted the de tox.

Checking with your doctor is a wise move
but you must be honest about your drinking
so the professional advice will be correct.

Sorry your feeling Yukky...the flu is going around here.

Be gentle with yourself...Yes! you can quit and stay quit

Scared, yes. Hopeless, no. Get back on the wagon right now and start over! Drink lots of water and juice. B vitamins help too. You can stop drinking. I finally made it to six months sober, after constantly relapsing for months, then after six months I picked up again and blew my sober time. Now I'm starting over and have sixteen days.

Take it one day at a time, that's all you can do, but one day at a time can work if you just don't drink for today.

you can do it, we all can, and we learn from our errors, and our friends teach us with theirs. today is a new day!

i went back to drinking/drugs many times. it can be very difficult to change and will require a lot of work for some.

i have delved in the paper of recovery: reading and writing. go to meetings and therapy and am doing different things than i used to do, ie. cooking.

good luck

I'm not sure why, but I wasn't very sick when I quit.. didn't really have any physical withdrawals. Everyone's body is different, who knows why we go through things so differently. I hope you find the support you need, cuz with this thing, "not making it"= death. Stick around, make a plan, make a committment to yourself if you're ready to change your life forever.

By not drinking Monday-Thursday, I thought my problem wasn't so bad. I didn't realize then that I was restarting my detox every week. Makes perfect sense.
