Stages of Recovery
Stage 1:
Walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost. I am helpless. It isn't my fault. It takes forever to find my way out.
Stage 2: I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don't see it. I fall in, again. I can't believe I am in this same place. But it isn't my fault. It still takes a long time to get out.
Stage 3: I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it is there. I fall in....it's a habit....but, my eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately.
Stage 4: I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it.
Stage 5: I walk down a different street.

Stage 7: I'm walking down a different street...I fall in a hole...repeat steps 1-6 as needed
I swear my "stuff" "dresses up in different clothes" which is why I find having a sponsor/support group helpful
so many times it's just the same thing in a different setting or with a different "story"
Another thing I noticed, the same "issue" can either be "Armageddon" or "no big deal" depending on where I am when it comes up.
I had a relationship issue come up once, and I was having a pretty busy time at work, (one of my employees had recently taken up meth, and thought things like chasing the mailman with a chainsaw was acceptable behavior) so I was pretty busy, So I "resolved" the relationship issue with loving kindness in about 3 minutes, it came up again a few months later, and it was "earth shaking", and I wallowed in it for about a month before I realized, "wait, I have been here before and know the solution"
Made me wonder if I was addicted to drama, and needed some "drama du jour" actually

Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude
