50's the new 30 I'm told, so it's all good.
Congrats and welcome, Jaywalker. I quit drinking at the age of 48, and I'm coming up on 29 years sober...AA has been a big part of my recovery, but this Sober Recovery site has taken the place of face to face meetings for the past couple of years...it's become my 24/7 meeting place. Lots of good friends and support here.
Hi Steve - 50 IS the new 30, Citychick is so right.... I was a 50-something when I finally got it. I found in the beginning I was in a sorry-for-myself mode. I thought of all the things I'd be missing out on, but now at 8 mos. sober I don't think like that any more. We do go through many different phases, so don't become discouraged when you hit a rough spot. SR is a wonderful and amazing place filled with a unique array of people. I'm so glad you found us. Please tell us more of your story when you feel ready. Love, Joanie
