Feeling weird

I have made it through the day, thus far. Woke up in a miserable, nasty mood. All I wanted to do was crawl back in bed and stay there. Kept thinking it would just be so nice to get through work and have a glass of wine. Made it to work, which was insanely busy today. My bad mood must have been apparent to everyone, as later in the day, my boss said "good to see you in a better mood". Got home and realized that I do not want to have that glass of wine, after all. That is such an odd feeling. I'm not too sure what to make of it. It helped that my mom called to see how I was doing with the panic thing, just as I got home. Would love to hear form others about their experiences during the first couple of days. I'm glad I have found you guys.

Here is a link to a site that provides information on Post Acute Withdrawl Syndrome. It sounds like you may be experiencing some of the symptoms, which is not abnormal. Hope it helps

Good job on hanging in there. Do you see a doctor or take anything to help with the w/d? I had to get help with it.

I can relate to the panic. I've gone from panicky to feeling wonderful and peaceful many times in my 9 days of clean and sober.

when it get rough a big old candy bar and a pop can help
or some good old junk food at mcdonalds

though not healthy in the long term thesej can be good short term tools that can help you with the panic. I had a panic attack once in 1992 and a nurse told me to eat chocolate....so I did....

do what evolves for you as the way to go...if the panic is sever and recurrent perhaps the discussion of the post(s) above is very applicable.

thanks

The panic attacks started long before I started drinking. I know that I have "issues" that I have not addressed. I am looking into dealing with them. It's just not easy telling a stranger about some of the things that I have experienced.

I found AA meetings were tremendously helpful.
I needed a new routine and friends who were sober.

Good to see you made it thru the day..

That put a big ole smile on face just thinking about you not wanting to feed the monkey. Way to go. The emotional stuff is pretty normal. However bad that it sucks. Does anyone at work (Boss perhaps) know what you are dealing with? When I gave up the sauce, I told everybody in the office - including their cousin's cousins.. But I know it's a personal choice.

Hang in there and know that we're pulling for ya..

Hey Daddio,

OMG, no! She would fire my **s if she knew! She knows about the panic thing, but only that. I've seen her fire people who do their jobs, but are not "team players". I am not willing to tell her anything about this. This girl is smart and knows how to get around employment laws.

10-4. I would just hate for you to get popped because of a "bad mood" w/o someone knowing what the score is. That's all. Trust me though, I know all too well about the people that you speak of.. I have a nice collection of daggers to prove it and back scars to prove it!!!! We'll all just keep this one our little secret. ((((Big Wink)))))...
