Sobriety Rocks!!

Just sayin

I love being clean and sober...If I had of drank this past weekend I would still be detoxing today...so nice to be able to think of other things besides wishing I felt better.

I actually start a motorcycle course tonight...it's a pretty intense course that lasts a week, at the end of which I get my motorcycle license. I bought an old 79 Honda CB400 last spring with the intention of getting my license and learning to ride last summer. I never quite got around to it...I was either drinking and getting high every weekend or hurting/detoxing on weekdays...which pretty much made it impossible to learn how to ride. I'm really looking forward to learning now.

I definitely feel a freedom when I am clean and sober that I don't feel when I drink. I think at a certain point, drinking becomes a self imposed prison...you think you are free...but you're really not.

Primal Scream,

I don't think I've ever hear it said better: "I think at a certain point, drinking becomes a self imposed prison...you think you are free...but you're really not."

I think you are so right on. And good for you for finding it out for yourself! You know that because you experienced it - not because someone said to it try to motivate you to quit.

Thanks for posting and be safe on that bike!

Made me day reading your uplifting post.

Drinking to me is like being in prision to. But I have to always remember that I will have that prison number# my whole life. And as long as I am sober I am on parol but could be put back in prison if I use.

But I just love my freedom and would not trade it for prison life.

My son has done prison time for years so I compare my addiction with his prision time.

Hope you have fun on your bike.
