News about my Addicted Son--So far All Good
I haven't posted in sometime, but have been reading and sending out prayers. I want to share my good news, yet I know it's only one day away from going bad.:ghug3
My AS entred a 30 Rehab program in Jan this year and then in Feb went to a 1/2 house. Thank God - he's been clean and sober and working since then. He has almost 4 months clean and has a wonderful attitude.
With the Jewish Holiday of Passover approaching, which is an occasion for a ritual meal attended to by the extended family, he is coming this year. The last few years his absence was noted by a special prayer I would say. This year, god willing, he will be there with all his family.
I will still say a special prayer this year, giving thanks for the positive changes, but also asking for help for those of us who continue to hurt in such an extreme way.
Thanks all of you for your prayers.:day4

Dad,
That is really positive news. I remember reading all of your posts and there were some really sad times for you. It is amazing when they make up their minds as to what they a capable of doing.
May you and your son be blessed during this holy season of passover. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Yes, wonderful news indeed and I'm so glad you brought it here because it offers proof that there is always hope, we just never know when or how.
I can imagine your relief, and my prayers go out that your son stays on this good road.
Hugs

None of us can plan tomorrow, but each of us can be grateful for today. I am so happy for you and your son - four months can feel like forever. Every minute of that time is precious - no matter WHAT the future brings.
I remember feeling once that if my daughter relapsed, I was "losing" those days... but some long-time addicts reminded me that every day sober is like money in the bank - it brings strength and perspective to recovery, no matter what "phase" it is in.
My daughter has relapsed, and had a slip, and is back on track ... today. I love her, and know that my love for her has deepened these past three years as I've watched her learn and grow from her addiction.
And I have learned and I believe I've experience growth during the same time... and I can be grateful for what this path has brought me.
You guys, for one.
What a blessing you all are... thank you for sharing this, HD... your hope is what helps buoy many of us during the darkest days. You and your son are in my prayers and I wish you both the very best.

That is great news, good for him.
I remember back in January, my daughter had about 2 weeks of rehab under her belt, when your son was starting his journey. I remember having some of the same emotions that you shared here at SR at that time.
I am proud to say that my daughter and your son are both on the same positive track, if just for today.
Please tell your son that I wish him the best that life has to offer him.
Thanks for sharing,
Colleen

Thank you for sharing your good news. Sometimes around her all we get is sorrow. So when the news is happy, I hold onto to it as a sign that someday I may be sharing good news too. Hugs, Marle

You offer hope.
My son is in treatment. I too am hopeful.
