499 days!
499 days!
My new tradition, I was always somewhat puzzled but the practice of giving out tokens for YEARS of sobriety when we always talk about "day at a time" Why not change to days, you could round up so that it has a nicer ring, 375 'days', for example. Just a thought. Yeah, I should have waited for 500, but 499 has a nice ring to it.
Happy 499....500 is almost here.
I guess it means just make it one day at a time any way you can (Don't be overwhelmed by the future), but celebrate the days that have passed with celebration of the heart and mind. And errrr time.

Congratulations on 499 Days!
You brought something up kinda in the neighborhood of what I've had cross my mind lately.
I get a little confused when some people who have a few years or more in Recovery sometimes say that they don't count the time much any more.
But we practice the "One Day at a Time" concept.
Me? I celebrate each one of those days!
In my morning Program, I thank God for letting me wake up happy to be waking up. I will never forget when I was using, I was actually angry that I woke up. I'd wanted to die in my sleep so many times. But it seems like dying in my sleep would have been too easy. I hated myself so much and felt like I was such an horrible person that I felt like I needed to die a very painful, horrible death. Much like the life I was living.
Before I go to bed each night and review my day, I thank God for walking with me through yet another day. Early in my Recovery, I know that God carried me. Now, with the tools that I have learned in Recovery and the strength I get from God, I feel as though we walk hand in hand. I thank God for showing me that there wasn't one situation that day that I needed to use over.
So, for me, I celebrate each day. Very soon, with God's continuous help and the tools that I have been given, I will have a special day to share,It's not one that I will proudly and joyously walk with my head help high to receive a token for.
But my Sobriety isn't just about getting a metal coin that signifies time passed since I left the hell on earth I was living.
It's above living.
Happy, Joyous & Free!
May God not only Bless everyone who can celebrate another day clean and sober today,
but
Also God, please Bless those who are still suffering.
