"Beautiful Boy" (Book)

Has anyone read this book? Or heard of it? It's a fathers story of his sons addiction, non-fiction. I bought it and started reading it the other night, very good so far, only about 100 pages into it. I think a lot of people here would enjoy this book, as well as family members or friends that have gone through the ordeal with you/us.

It's by David Sheff. I bought it at Starbucks of all places. I saw it at Target the other day as well, only one copy was left there! And of course it was cheaper at Target, but not by too much.:bounce

His son Nic has written his story too called "Tweak". I am alternating reading both books. I am the parent of an addict and it is interesting how all of our stories are the same. Hugs, Marle

I'm almost finished with Beautiful Boy. Meth was my drug, It wasn't that triggering for me, but I don't get that triggered over anything anymore like I used too. I'm sure just like any meth book it is a bit triggering.
It's a great book.

I read Tweak a few weeks ago. When I googled him and saw his picture, it fit perfectly. There's something about reading someones biography's and then seeing the persons face.

So far every thread I've read someone has said Tweak was a trigger for them.
I was going to read it but decided to pass. I think I'd be okay and kind of want
to read it but have no desire to possibly torture myself, lol, been there done that
to many times.

Ali I watched Nic on a video from CNN today, if you google it you can see him talk
about his latest relapse.

Another good one was 'Dry' by Augusten Burroughs.
He's the same guy who wrote 'Running With Scissors'. It's a decent account of flash-backs, and trying to do it alone. He's an alcoholic and ends up at one point in a relationship to a crack addict. He's also homosexual and that brings a different element into his past battles. He breaks his A.A. anonymity
but, I forgive him. ;-)

I've only been interested in non-fiction since sober. Weird.
