HORRIBLE headaches! Is this normal?
Hi- I am on day 7 without alcohol, and the first 5 days I didn't feel any withdrawls at all, but the past two mornings I have woken up with terrible headaches. They are much worse than I ever experienced while drinking. Is this common?

My Experiences
Hey Laura- In my experience with withdrawal symptoms I've had horrendous headaches....sometimes dull throbbing low grade pain that lasts all day...up to acutely painful stabbing sensations that feel like a knife in the skull...also jaw and lower skull numbness and painful tingling that washes over the head like a wave.....perhaps more distarcting was the sense of mental fog and feeling like my head was detached...like on the end of a string...in a way. Confusion and inability to think clearly accompanied all of this.
Remember- there's a tremendous amount of chemical imbalance in your brain right now that takes time ( sometimes a lot of time ) to re-adjust to pre addiction levels....you may want to seek medical advice re;withdrawal in general just to be safe. Also...look up alcohol withdrawal syndrome symptoms online and I think you'll see what you're experiencing id fairly commom. STAY HYDRATED!! I always get paranoid and anxious when withdrawing which only compounds the already painful symptoms
