Jenny....I needed to remember your story so I read over some of your threads in which you describe your "relationship" with this man.

Please do not let yourself get involved with his mother, any other family member or his doctor (although I believe there are privacy laws there). Refuse to take his mother's calls and ask her to stay out of your life.

Get yourself to a library or bookstore and start reading Co-dependent No More by Melody Beattie. Your attitude towards this low-life guy is so typically enabling. You don't need the drama in your life.

I'm sorry to read this man is in such a poor state of health but it is NOT your problem.
