I did it!
I took the advice of a few of you.
In my last couple of posts here, I was struggling with guilt trips, and a mother who is trying to make me responsible for her.
Well, yesterday she was on the phone with me. She's moving and some of her best friends helped her. (she's 2 hrs from me)
After gloating about how wonderful they were, she said, "I wish you would call them and thank them for all they do for me".
I responded, "Why, didn't YOU thank them yourself?"
Of course, being the acoa that I am, I expected a lightening bolt to race through the sky and fry me in my chair.
She said, yes. But, then she stopped with the guilt trip. I was suprised she didn't act all hurt.
So, practice makes better.
I am learning.

hi wascally wabbit- love the screen name!
im new here. 7 days today sober- and i liked your post, that whole guilt trippy thing is not a trip anyone likes to take, frankly id rather go on a trip to the dentist than a take a guilt trip! lol my boyfriend has a saying----"pack your bags were going on another guilt trip!" lol he always saying that referring to his mom.
letting go and going on is a hard lesson for me, but its great when i actually do it!
you are learning, and its awesome!!!!!!
hugs

The best part about is Wascal, is that each time you do it, it gets easier. The first time is the hardest, but also the most liberating. Enjoy your new found freedom (even through the lightning bolt fear)!
