Recovery is the Answer

I haven't been here for over a month and it is good to be back.......

My last post was at 2 days sober and I am now over a month sober.....

I am grateful today for my sobriety. Without the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous, friends in recovery, and my higher power I would not be sitting here with a sense of being "ok" with my life as it is today.

After 10 years of being sober I relapsed last fall and I started coming back into sobriety in January. After several slips I now have over a month sober. In less then a few months I went from a drink to a crack pipe. This disease DOES wait for us. It is cunning, baffling, and powerful.

I am grateful for all of my recovery today. I don't see my slip as a setback; it was and is a part of my recovery today! I certainly don't want to do it again; and if I look to my higher power on a daily basis for guidance it won't.

I get a daily reprieve contingent on my spiritual condition........

Recovery Is Possible; and Attainable!

Thanks for the post. Truly inspirational. I understand what you mean about relapse as I have relapsed before. It was inspirational for me to read that you don't see this as time wasted. I'm aspiring for more days sober so your post was an inspiration to me. Thanks again.

Hello All!!!!

Well today I have 8 months sober!!!!

I have hope today and see light at the end of the tunnel. I am grounded again in a program of recovery from drugs and alcohol. I am once again working on areas of my life that have caused me to get into a relapse cycle.

I have a host of problems in my life; financial, relationship, self-esteem, other addictions, but I am willing to look at those areas so that I don't drink and drug again.

These type of sites have helped me at various times in my sobriety....Thanks for being there!!!!!

Hi David,

That's a great post and I agree with you that we just need to take it day by day. That's the best we can do.
