Went to 1st Al-Anon Meeting ! !
Hello, all ! ! I went to my very first al-anon meeting last night. I was soooo...
very scared to go in, but I found the courage to enter the building. The people there were really nice, I cried some, then cried all the way home, but feel better today. I plan on attending another meeting next week to see the difference and to hopefully find one that I can call my "own".
Thanks to all on this site that recommended Al-Anon.

lilac,
I'm so glad you went and plan to go again. Sometimes going to the same meeting for awhile can be helpful too, and then try some new ones once you get more established with how things work. The good thing about it is that in alot of areas there are so many to choose from! I hope you find a home group to settle into soon.

i go between 2 meetings - one meeting is a step meeting a the other reads out of courage to change and has a weekly lead speaker who chooses a topic. it is nice to have the variety, and i meet more nice people!glad you went! keep going back!

I was scared to walk into my first one too. I was greeted and comforted before I made it in the door. I burst out crying when they asked if I wanted to share, but was still comforted by everyone. I haven't been back, but AM going to an all-woman's one tomorrow. I can't wait to try it out and hope that it is the meeting for me. The first step is the hardest, congratulations on making it!!!

I went again and was able to speak this time! I cried through the whole thing, but it feels so good. I left there feeling calm. He went and got a fifth of vodka while I was at the meeting and I have now been staying at my sisters. But I feel better and it's not my fault!! Keep going, you will learn a lot!
