good morning all.....went to the casino Monday/Tuesday......lost all my money.....but gained alittle self respect...stayed sober...the last time i went,i was drinking and i couldn't get a free drink....no servers in sight.....THIS time i wasn't drinking,and i swear, there was a server that came around every five minutes!!!!!!"BEVERAGE?"a few times,i got a whiff of some of that,"evil grog",and my mouth watered a bit......but i stayed with my poland springs water....last time i went,i brought a bottle in my suitcase......29 days today.....gotta go read the new postings...take care all........

good for you! it is really hard, especially the first few times, to do something or go somewhere where you used to drink. for me, it was going out to eat. (well, that's only one of the many situations that i used to drink) but just getting through it the first time is a major step forward. WTG!

congratulations! I feel like I won something today to.. yesterday my boss asked if I wanted to join in some drinks with the gang after work... I made up an excuse and didn't go. I suppose a bigger achievement would have been to go and not drink.. but one step at a time. At least this morning I have a clear head. Can't say that for a few of the folks around me...

I had to avoid people, places and things until about a year sober. By then I really didn't enjoy it... which is not the point. The point is that I wouldn't risk my sobriety for a night of fun or peer pressure.
