Stalking

I have just changed my phone number because my exAB would not leave me alone...many text messages...drunken calls and voice messages...threats that he will kill himself...threats that he will come and find me. (He does not know where I live, but does know the general area that I work...it is a large campus). I just feel really anxious all the time and I feel like it is not fair. I feel trapped in my own life. All I ever did was try to make his life better and now all he wants to do is make me miserable. I guess I just needed to vent.
uggh!

(((chased))) you are safe here........vent away.

I am so sorry this is happening. Chances are good that others here have had a similar thing happen; hopefully they can give you some ideas so you can have a little more peace of mind.

That's always been a fear of mine, that Rich would ever act that way. I can only imagine how nervewracking and frustrating that must be. But you did the right thing under the circumstances by changing your number, so pat yourself on the back for that. I work on a campus too, perhaps you should alert security to just be extra cautious with any visitors who come to campus for you?

If he mentions killing himself, might try telling him you will call the police to come put him into protective custody, then call them. Save recorded messages, e-mls or text messages to show the police.

Just a suggestion.

Hello chased, feel free to vent all you want. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to have that man harrass you. Here's a couple links with resources to help you protect yourself.

This is a crime called harassment. You may report it and get a restraining order or a no contact order. Any violation is contempt of court. You may give a copy of the court order to the security where you work and they may be able to keep him from the premises.
This is a horrible situation. I have been in it.
It is good that he does not know where you live!
Hopefully changing your phone will be enough.
If not, or however you choose, the above are your first legal options.
