Christmas day

Look at all the people here who care. Today is a new day -- you can make better choices. Alcohol is such a depressant, don't forget that contributes so much to the disease. Best wishes.... make it a great new year!!

Thanks for your replies everyone!
I've got the day off today so I can recover and be back at work tomorrow.
What were the benefits of my weekend binge? I didn't feel well, and didn't even get the "buzz". It could have been worse, as I did not drive, make a fool out of myself, or hurt myself.
It will be so nice when the holidays are over.

The good news is there are some benifits from a learning perspecitve: The benifits I got were:
A growing realization that each time I go back it IS progressivley worse.
An understanding that the relief I felt over the fact that there wasnt a major mishap to pay for was luck, all the bad things racing through my mind could and would eventually happen if I continued.
Understanding and resolve that I didnt have to feel that way again.
Hope you feel better every day Mongo, and dont beat yourself up, take what you can learn from it and move on.
Take care

Yeah, but just let's look at it as a learning experience instead. Every time we screw up, we also grow closer to our recovery. You realizing that you screwed up is another step. It may not look like it now, but it is. You can do this. I know you can. Do not beat yourself up over it, just try to learn from it.
