Can Someone Please explain this to me????
Hey all,
Ok for those who know me...you know my last posting was about vomiting. And this is the topic which concerns this thread as well....but dont worry I'm not obsessing here...or just a bored frat guy I'm really curious about this.
Did anybody else here in their drinking hey-day...go out for a night of steady boozing (granted) feel fine (relatively) when they went to bed...woke up feeling fine (again relatively) and then a couple hours later suddenly become nausious and go on a violent vomiting streak that lasted for several "vomits". What causes this? If it were just too much alcohol-one would think that it would occur whilst drinking...or at the very least upon waking the next morning. Like I said I'm just curious...this point was raised on a couple other postings...and I guess one might just call it an "intellectual curiosity"....and I promise this will be lasting posting on this topic

hmmmm well what I mean was "last" post on this topic...but for some the former phrasing might be more appropriate anyway
The exact cause of that is hard to answer, but I have had many different vomiting spells from drinking.
Some happened the night after heavy drinking.
Some happened the next day when I "did not drink as much" the night before.
Some happened right after the first drink.
What I learned is that the body can react different at different times, and with drinking unpredictable results can occur. For example, there were many drinking nights when I went to bed early, had a nice dinner, and had a good nights sleep. Sure enough, when I woke up the next morning, I was miserably hungover and my day was shot.
Personally, the best advice is not to drink.

it doesn't take an intellectual to know
pour tons of liquor down your throat
and
it affects your stomach
some good points made here
everyone is different
it depends on what you ate
and
how much you drank
but
you, personally, may have a gastrointestinal problem
then is being irritated by the drinking
i know, when i was drinking
all i felt was the need for another drink
then
once i sobered up
all of a sudden
my thumbs hurt at the joints
i couldn't sleep well
my lower back hurt, etc
alcohol masks a lot of physical problems
so
go see a doctor
and go to AA
best

w/o knowing what 'steady' drinking means, I would guess your liver isn't done processing alcohol. It finally gets overwhelmed and you vomit.
That's a guess, I'm not a doctor who'd be able to explain exactly what's going on. Excessive bile and stomach issues sound just as reasonable. In any event, vomit in general is your body telling you to knock it off, regardless of when it happens... like CDr was experincing.
Had that problem on occassion, though it was pretty rare... hard liquor was typically the source. More often I'd just start feeling worse and I'd make myself vomit, although I was probably just speeding up the inevitable.

Thank you to those of you who gave actual answers to my questions..rather than just cute comments. Obviously the answer is not to drink...but I have a very inquisitve nature...and find what I mentioned in the original post to be very curious about the body.
