Just a friendly hello!

Spoiler

I joined here back in 2017 and found the support and guidance to actually get the help I needed. Since my first post here all those years ago, it’s taken many steps, 6 different rehabs and a lot of meetings but I finally have 14 months completely sober and even ditched the smoking habit along the way.

But this site was the beginning of my journey and I just moved to a new town and am missing a bit of fellowship in my life so I’ll be hanging around here much more

Wow, what great work you have done! So often when folks come back it is to announce they are worse off.

Do you go to AA or use another specific program?

Congratulations and keep it up!

Thank you all very much! To answer your question, over the course of my recovery I’ve done the 12 steps, AA meetings, the big book, smart recovery and the like. But I have really slacked off on those things. Especially since I moved to another state last month. But I know how important it is for me to stay plugged in to others in recovery; I have found accountability and fellowship to be the largest part of my success.

You have done a great job iamme, but yes - please remain vigilant. It is when we get too far away from our program and fellowship with other alcoholics that we can slip. I relapsed after 3 years, during a time of stress. Hadn't been on SR in months prior to that.. Find a way to keep connected - it doesn't need to be AA but can be. Or regular posting, or finding a way to assist others.
