Please stay on the Sober bus - pt.21
My neighbor and I are hosting a Halloween Costume Party. She is not a cook or creative in the decoration department so I am doing most of the planning. Besides, Halloween is my favorite part of the Fall season.
How fun is that, Chloe! My friend has been wanting to host a costume "Murder mystery-who done it" dinner party but it hasn't happened yet
Happy Friday everyone! I'm feeling good about riding into the weekend, but I know how easy it is to get bitch-slapped by the AV.....any chance you can have the Soberbus parked outside my work at 9:45 tonight to pick me back up?!? Thanks!

Greetings, dear friends. So sorry that I have been MIA. Had a bad reaction to the second in the series of shingles vaccine and then had to scramble to get ready to go out of town. Found myself in areas without Wi-Fi and even, at times, cell service.
Happy to be jumping aboard the bus today.
Will catch up later.

Thanks guys! I was romanticizing drink(s) on the way home & AV was beginning to throw a tantrum "Why can't I have some wine on a Friday night like a normal person?!!?"
But I'm home now, soothing lights/candle/meditation music/Sleepytime Tea....and my recovery family ~ Thanks again everyone!

I hope you are feeling better now Leigh, shingles can be most uncomfortable
I have heard. Great to have you back on board.
Well done for dismissing that AV Purps!
Cool! I have posted this Halloween related photo of myself somewhere on SR before - The Weekenders thread most likely. It was taken a year after what turned out to be a critical point in my recovery. We have a "thing" in Britain called stoptober when people quit things during October such as smoking, drinking, chocolate etc. Usually it is just for themselves but sometimes for charity. So back in September of 2014 I announced at work that I was quitting drinking for a month and would people sponsor me? My thinking was that I would use that month as a springboard to full sobriety.
Obviously as a fairly long time member of SR I now realise what a dumb idea that was but at the time I was not on SR and had not educated myself about alcoholism, I knew that I needed to stop but did not know that there is more to it than that.
Anyway, to cut a long story short I failed on day 23. I drank at home so no one else knew but I was at my lowest ebb. I did not own up and return people's money because I did not want my work colleagues knowing I had a drink problem (they may have suspected already of course) In the end to appease my conscience and kind of punish myself I made a really big donation of my own to the charity which, when added to what I raised made for a tidy sum and as a result I was invited to their swanky Halloween party where drinks were served from midnight.
I drank then and again when I got home. After that I started researching alcoholism online and came across SR. I lurked for a couple of months before joining in Jan '15.
The pic was taken outside my sister's house before the party, I think I went out to scare some kids - I actually wore a white jacket and white trousers to the party itself.
I believe Alice Cooper/Vince Furnier had some booze issues himself among other things so it was kind of apt.
Sorry for the long post.
