2 year anniversary

Yep it really is two whole years since I had a drink.
Lots has happened, lots has changed for the better. I've got all sorts of challenges ( as we all have), but I'm getting better at facing stuff now and it's dawned on me that getting drunk never helped any single situation.
I want this to be the rest of my life now.
I've got out of the habit of coming on SR daily, but I really relied on this forum for so long in year 1 and a lot of 2, so want to say thank you so much to all of you who posted your support whatever I was struggling with, there were many times I just needed somebody to say they understood or that I would be OK and I got all that over and over.
Thank you lovely SR folk.
I'm no spring chicken, but this right now the best time of my life and I'm grateful every day.
Love and strength to all of you
Xxx

Such a lovely post!

I understand.
I will always understand.

If someone had had a crystal ball and told me that I would get through a relationship break up, redundancy, ill health, a death, moving house, an abrupt end to a job, money worries without drinking I would have laughed and not believed.

I agree drinking never makes anything better EVER.

I don't know if this is the same for you but I finally trust myself that I will find a way of getting through life's up's and down's that does not involve drinking.

I find that if I am faced with a stressful situation, the best thing is to go with it.
Like Dee always says 'everything will be okay in the end, if it is not okay, it is not the end'.

Always been true for me xx

Clearly you do understand Sasha, thank you.
Yes, there's a growing faith both in myself and in something much bigger ( I call it the universe , others may say God) I could only become aware of this while sober and trying life on sober terms. Challenges abound, but so do opportunities, solutions, love....... It's all pretty wondrous stuff this life and I'm so grateful to be awake to it.

Xx
