What is the winning sober (better life) combination ???
At times I was thinking that the Ladies could fix me.
But, in the end.
Only keeping the plug in the jug
and the help of a Higher Power (God)
would be the winning sober (better life) combination.
What is your combination for a sober better life?

If we can not keep the plug in the jug
we can not make a sober start.
First we keep the plug in the jug for a while
and then we learn how to keep it there.
This site may be of great use?
Sure keeps me fresh in my sobriety.

If AA, then the 12 steps God as you understand him and meditation and willing to go to any lengths and complete surrender . I cant . God can . If you ask him And Let Him , great combination .

I think for me, the main important thing was not drinking at all, ever - total permanent abstinence. There are lots of things that helped make that happen and helped me stay on that path, but without that I'd still be a drunk. All the many good things that have gone on in my life since that last drink, flowed down from it being my last drink.
I was always looking for the big enchilada of sobriety and IMO there isn't one. Of course not drinking is essential but it is only the start.
I DO things to maintain my sobriety. Today is like all days. I pray in the morning, read spiritual writings, read AA literature, go to an AA meeting, talk to other alcoholics, read and post on SR, fill my day with things I enjoy, do some work, and thank God at night.
Everyday I try to get a little bit better and help as many as I can.

SR plays a tremendous role in my sobriety.
Beyond that, it is fairly simple: I don't view myself as deprived because I cannot drink but freed because I choose not to and consider it a permanent choice.

M-B,
Step One. Stopping. Not so hard.
Step Two. Making the click to realising that I cannot drink ever. Harder.
Step Three. Not quitting the decision. Hardest.
Step Four. Being totally honest with myself and realising that the same holds true for all the other things the bad me tells me. I am not perfect, but I can do the next right thing. And that will give me peace, the same way that stopping gave me peace.
Step Five -- Realising that peace is all we need to be happy. Worth it.

That's when things seem to go best in my sober life of today
when I'm out of self and helping others.
Now if I could just stay in that condition.
A nice sober day wished for all,
M-Bob
winning combination
What is the winning sober (better life) combination ???
Keeping the plug in the jug
and treating others as I would wish to be treated.
I have a good chance if, I keep working those two.

For me - it is living in four simple phases - hundreds of times each day;
1. Recognize my part (including my limitations and boundaries).
2. Doing my part (only my part).
3. Trusting some higher/wider/universal power to do it's part.
4. Detaching from the outcome.
