Throw me some love guys
I just had my 2nd boxer dog put down due to cancer. I'm seriously bumming and there's nothing more in the world than I'd love to do than down some bourbon right now.
Ugh, it's amazing how attached I become to dogs.

I understand completely. I love my dog like family.
As much as you loved your dog, I'm sure your dog loved you equally. And that little soul that just crossed the Rainbow Bridge would like to see you live on sober, healthy, and happy.
Remain sober in honor and respect for your beloved companion, who can see you from Heaven.

Sorry to hear about your loss otter. Losing a companion is very hard. I'm glad you came here first instead of drinking though. As much as you might think some bourbon would be great, remember that's your addiction talking. It conveniently forgot to tell you that it will actually make you feel worse. Especially after you sober up and realize what you've done.
Stay sober for your buddy...tell us about him if you like.

Oh, no. I'm so sorry. There truly is no pain quite like it and I've been through it too often. Last fall we had to say good-bye to two of our dogs in less than three months and I was beyond devastated...especially as we had just lost another 15 months earlier.
I get it, I really do. I know there are really no words that can really help, but I send you so much sympathy and a gigantic hug.

I understand perfectly how you are feeling. I've lost so many animals in my life.
I hope you can stay sober and honor your lap buddy that way.
I have dogs and cats and nothing pleases me more than to take good care of them sober.
One thing I do, to make me feel better, is give another dog (or cat) a loving home as a tribute to the one I lost. I think they would approve of that.

I'm so sad right now and now it will pass but wow.
I understand your loss. I've felt it four times myself. I've honored mine by commissioning special urns from a local artist. They have a special place in my home, as they do in my heart.
otter, I lost my buddy (lab / shepherd mix) earlier this year--he died in my arms
it hurts like nothing else, but he knew I was there for him like Brittney knew
you were there for her.
That's something we were both able to do because we we sober and present.
Take comfort in that and know you will see her again. Don't doubt that.
Honor her memory by living well and honestly.
Grieve and know it will soften.

Thanks guys. I'm going to log off and go for a walk. I just needed to know that I'm not alone in the world. Now is not a good time to be crying in front of a laptop.
Thank you. I'll check back shortly.

it'll get easier!.
the other side of the coin is you could be like me I've kinda grown cold and dont get attached to my animals anymore I just dont like going through that kinda pain I cant be certain my approach is the healthiest of course My cats are more utility there mouse catchers etc. the chickens are well just chickens.
But I dunno I am getting more attached to my dogs then i'd like to be honest!
drinking wont fix nothing it'll just numb the pain and it'll be back again and you'll have 2 problems then if you drink.

Dogs are awesome companions. Truly unconditional love. After both my Labs died of old age, I decided to take a break for awhile, but I still miss them both. My heart goes out to you Otter. Enjoy the memories, keep them close in your heart.
